Design around the message

Write the text first and decide how much space it needs. Make a small folded mockup before cutting good paper. A clear message and generous margin can carry a card without elaborate decoration.

Choose materials that behave

Test pens on the paper for bleed and drying time. Score a fold before bending thick stock and use a ruler for repeated cuts. Keep offcuts for colour tests or small tags.

Prepare a small series

Repeat one layout with varied colours or marks. Check envelopes and postage size before finishing. Consistency across a set comes from shared proportions, not identical handwork.
